Population demographics derive from simple statistical rules

Expanding  critical concepts  from probability theory and information techniques (e.g. macro- and microstates, entropy), the goal of my dissertation is to develop, test and optimize a comprehensive theory that answers questions about universal patterns of natural communities.
 
The above video records the presentation I gave on the annual conference of Ecological Society of America (Baltimore, 2015). The first paper on this work is published ( Zhang and Harte, 2015 ).
Food web simulation and visualization
An interactive simulation tool to facilitate hypotheses developing for future food web research.
Applying dynamic programming to modeling the  feeding strategy of each invading species, I simulated community assembly process based on the same resource allocation process as described in my dissertation  and energy optimiztion.
 
The model is built into an online platform so that anyone can use it to run simulations and do analysis as well as contributing to the public GitHub repository of this project.
